Welcome to the EU Collective on Animal Husbandry

Animals enrich people's lives. They create wonder and help people know what nature has to offer. Animals in the home environment learn people the importance of protecting nature.

Of course, keeping animals in captivity brings responsibilities. It’s essential that animals are kept with good animal welfare.

The EU Collective for Animal Husbandry (EUCAH) endeavors to make the keeping of (almost) all species possible, as long as sufficient animal welfare guarantees are built in. Also EUCAH strives to fund in situ conservation projects, as well stimulating projects to breed endangered species ex situ.

Animal welfare is his number one priority. Positive lists that are not scientifically based and unreasonable can be thrown out as far as possible, as Floris is concerned.

Floris hopes that participants from all countries will support the goals of EUCAH and really start working together. Only then can we make a stand against the anti-holders.

1. We are going to find a new chairman for the 'GPG and Legal Affairs' project group
On April 19, 2019, the chairman of the PVH project group ‘GPG and Legal Affairs' decided to resign
from the activities she carried out as chairman under the flag of PVH. From now on she will offer
similar activities as a self-employed person. Of course we as PVH think this is a shame, although we
regularly had differences of opinion with her.
We would like to thank our former chairman of the GPG and Legal Affairs' project group for her
commitment and energy. Because of the project group, including the chair's input, the first GPG is
nearing completion.
We are now going to find a new chairman for this project group. We would like to get in touch with
potential candidates.2. Adjustment of the legal course: we want the complete list of pets and hobby animals off the table

On Wednesday, April 26, the board of PVH unanimously decided to adjust the legal strategy and ask
the judge to destroy the entire Pets and Hobby Animal List.
The legal strategy that PVH has followed until recently was based on the fact that the entire positive
list would not be destroyed and the procedures would be aimed at having the ban on species that
can be kept properly annulled by the court and the positive list itself maintained hold. We are now
adjusting our strategy because we believe that any species can be kept with good animal welfare if
the right housing and care are provided. The distinction between species that can be kept well and
species that cannot be kept well is therefore in fact not relevant.
3. GPG’s leading animal welfare efforts
PVH sees drawing up Good Practices Guides (GPS’s), or husbandry regulations, as the only good
option to achieve good animal welfare. Only in this way do holders know where they stand and the
government can enforce it in a targeted manner. This means that PVH takes an active role in
supporting the associations and individual holders in drawing up the GPG’s.
We aim for a solid, high-quality and well-coordinated collaboration with the animal keepers.
We would like to consult with the individual sector members to discuss how we can make a GPG for
your animal species. Do you contact us through the known channels to make an appointment?
Preferably by email to: info@huisdieren.nu
4. Looking for a passionate and suitable lawyer
On April 26, 2023, the PVH board decided not to accept a new offer made to the PVH board by the
former chairman of the PVH project group 'GPG and Legal Affairs'. We have decided to find a skilled
lawyer and we set a number of conditions for the new legal partner:
1. PVH determines the purpose of the legal procedure, not the lawyer. The lawyer will only carry out
the legal procedures on behalf of PVH.
2. The lawyer has full focus on PVH and works discreetly. Refrains from making statements on social
media or through journalism about internal administrative and personal issues.
We look ahead to cooperation with like-minded partners.
Best regards,
The board of PVH
