Beate is Expert Advisor for International Project Management within the advisory board of the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Herpetologie und Terrarienkunde e.V. (DGHT). She coordinates ex-situ-/in-situ-conservation projects with several breeding groups of amphibians and reptiles and is specialist for research and conservation of tortoises and freshwater turtles and as such a member of the IUCN species survival specialist group. Besides she is editor or author of several publications and she keeps and breeds some turtles herself.
